LV Communications has one purpose: to listen attentively and help people record and share their life stories. Each of us has unique, specific knowledge about our own lives, but also about our times and our communities. That knowledge deserves a place on the record. Putting it there begins with listening.
We focus on open-ended interviews, using the oral history method, because there's just no substitute for the particular story we each have to tell about who we are, how we live, and what we hope for. Oral history starts with recording people's stories, but it’s also about sharing them — through writing, films, audio stories, theatrical performances, exhibits, listening parties, walking tours, and more — to build understanding, to connect with others, to develop ideas, and to help make change for the better happen.
